Toronto FC: Fans: Wallpaper - Ooh, Toronto FC Wallpaper... I gotta hand it to them, these guys are on the ball! I'm really happy with the way things have gone w/ the club so far, sure they are little things but:

- Inexpensive Season tickets
- Very good communication online / updates
- A quality manager
- Lots of Canadians in the squad
- The toques deal w/ tickets for the home opener was cool
- Wallpaper... Yeah baby, freakin' wallpaper... Nice...

  January 2007 Update!
Ah... Time to dump my head of football-related thoughts...

Newcastle

Newcastle in the Transfer Window - Rumor of us going in for Joey Barton - I find this one suprising... At the moment, I think Central Midfield, and Midfield in general is arguably our LAST area that we need to strengthen... At the moment we have Parker, Dyer, Emre, Butt, all four who could definitely compete w/ Barton, for only 2 places?

I think we need to sign a new left-back, Babayaro is a sick note and even when he's playing his committment is questionable... The young lads Huntington and Edgar have done alright, but they're both central defenders... Bernard allegedly needs surgery so he'll never play for us...

In central defence, I think we're alright... I'd love it if we could get Woodgate back, but now that we've seen Taylor, Ramage, Huntington, and ok, only 2 matches, but Edgar, get a chance, I think we really should let them come through into the first team... Moore and Bramble can get us through til the summer, then we'll see what the situation is, but I don't think we need a central defender at the moment.

At right back I think between Carr and Solano we're alright... Solano isn't the greatest defensively, but his ability to get forward and get his awesome crosses in make up for it...

As far as striking goes, I'd be happy with perhaps another short term loan deal... With Ameobi and Owen still potentially out for the season, we need some more cover for Martins & Sibierski... Luque hopefully will be on his way, freeing up a bit of dough...

Rossi - He was most certainly not the finished article and I don't think he's quite ready for primetime yet, perhaps a year playing in the Championship would do him well, he needs to bulk up a bit and get used to the physical nature of the game, and just mature a bit, he seemed too anxious and too light weight, I'm fine w/ sending him back to Man U...

David Edgar - What a great story! His Dad was a keeper w/ Newcastle, and in the crowd at the home game v. Man U when David made his home debut and scored, brilliant! I wish him all the best, I think he's got a great future, maybe if it doesn't work out for him in the UK we'll seem at Toronto FC! - http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/166953 , here's another article some great quotes in here from his Dad... http://www.thestar.com/News/article/167055

Toronto FC Stuff

Mo Johnson in the Toronto Star - well I can't find a freaking online version of the article, st00pid theStar, anyway, they listed Mo as one of the 'ones to watch' in 2007, a decent little article, although it mentioned him as having played for 'the celtics' ha!

update - here's the article... - http://www.thestar.com/News/article/166608

Away to Chicago - The full 2007 MLS Schedule is expected to be released shortly, when it does, we'll be looking first for the date of a Toronto FC away match to Chicago... It's a great city, lots of good beer spots to check out, and only about an 8 hour drive, so we've got pencilled in plans to do a road trip/weekend away there... If that doesn't seem doable for some reason - perhaps it's a midweek game or something, then heading out to Boston might not be a bad alternative... Boston is another great city, and also about an 8 hour drive (in the opposite direction)

I think a lot. Some people say I think too much... However, I don't want to be seen as being aloof or pretentious, it's just that I really enjoy philosophical questions and deep thoughts. That's not to say that I don't find pleasure in more down-to-earth or trivial things, like beer and soccer :) I'm happily married with 3 wonderful children.
